Discover Zac's Hamburgers

Walking into Zac's Hamburgers feels like stepping into a classic American diner where the focus is squarely on good food and familiar comfort. Located at 1505 Chester Pike, Crum Lynne, PA 19022, United States, this spot has built a steady reputation among locals who value consistency, generous portions, and a menu that doesn’t try to reinvent what already works.

The first time I stopped by was after a long workday, the kind where you want something filling without overthinking it. I ordered a cheeseburger, fries, and a milkshake, expecting something average. What came out told a different story. The burger was freshly grilled, juicy, and seasoned simply but effectively. According to USDA data, freshly ground beef cooked to proper temperature retains more moisture and flavor than pre-formed patties, and that difference was noticeable here. The bun was lightly toasted, holding everything together without falling apart halfway through the meal.

One thing that stands out is how the kitchen operates. You can see staff working efficiently, following a straightforward process: fresh beef patties on the flat-top, fries dropped to order, and toppings prepped throughout the day rather than sitting too long. This kind of workflow is often recommended by food safety organizations like the FDA, not only for freshness but also for maintaining consistent quality. It shows in the food. Even during busy lunch hours, orders come out hot and accurate, which isn’t always easy in a diner setting.

The menu is broad without being overwhelming. Alongside burgers, there are cheesesteaks, hot dogs, breakfast platters, and grilled sandwiches. A friend of mine swears by the cheesesteak, claiming it rivals some better-known Philadelphia spots. While that might spark debate, the meat-to-bread ratio is solid, and the steak is chopped finely enough to stay tender. Reviews across local platforms often mention the breakfast offerings, especially the eggs and home fries, which are cooked fresh rather than reheated, something the National Restaurant Association notes as a key factor in customer satisfaction.

What really keeps people coming back, though, is reliability. I’ve eaten here at different times of day, and the food rarely varies. That kind of consistency is something restaurant consultants often cite as more important than flashy presentation. When customers know what they’re getting, trust builds naturally. Many regulars describe the place as home-style cooking and no-frills comfort food, and those phrases fit without exaggeration.

Service also plays a role. The staff tends to be direct and friendly, not overly scripted. On one visit, a server noticed my fries were getting cold while I waited on a milkshake and brought out a fresh batch without being asked. Small gestures like that matter. According to consumer behavior studies from Cornell University’s School of Hotel Administration, perceived attentiveness often influences repeat visits more than price alone.

There are some limitations worth mentioning. Seating can feel tight during peak hours, and the decor is more functional than modern. If you’re looking for a trendy atmosphere or gourmet twists, this may not be your spot. Still, those gaps are part of the charm for many diners who prioritize taste and value over ambiance.

Among the many locations lining Chester Pike, this diner stands out by doing the basics well. The steady stream of positive reviews reflects a place that understands its audience and sticks to what it knows. From the straightforward menu to the dependable execution, everything works together to create an experience that feels honest and satisfying, meal after meal.

  • What can I say? You need more double cheeseburgers in your life. You know you do-- and in the Ridley Park/Crum Lynne area-- this is the place to get them. Simple and straightforward burgers that are outstanding. A very good flounder sandwich and an Italian sausage with just the right amount of heat, great fries, etc, etc. They go out of their way-- taking care of their customers even when they show up in the morning at 10am.

  • Not much table space,; parking can be difficult at lunch time. But food is spot on. Good restaurant is about good food.

  • Cute pop in shop! Clean, took 1 minute for me to get my milkshake, food tasted great for the price they're asking. The buns are the only disappointing thing, sad and smooshed looking. All in all, a solid place for a tasty burger, fries and a shake!

  • Great burgers, fries, mozzarella sticks, and milkshakes. Burgers are cooked right in front of you, made fresh, and taste great. This is not a small meatball on a bun, this is a good juicy buger.Nice friendly staff. I left something in the store and they ran out to the parking lot to catch me. Fantastic experience all around and I will be back. And you should go!

  • I go to this place about 3 times a weeks for lunch. They are always steadily busy. The team of 3 to 4 behind the counter works hard to get the orders out. The food always fresh. You can watch them dump a basket of fries for every order. Prices are reasonable and compared to other places in DELCO.

  • The 1st Zac's burger and this is definitely worth getting your burgers from. I've visited the other location and the burgers are consistent. One of the best burgers in the SE Pennsylvania area. The fries are good and the burgers are right off the grill. Their double isn't massive but just enought to fill you up. Just watch out, it is right off the grill so it is hot... Burnt the roof of my mouth a bit because I couldn't wait. The place is definitely small. There are only 3 tables inside and they have a table on the outside for outdoor dining. If you go at peak time, it'll be hard to find a table but you can take out the food or even call ahead for pick up. Very friendly staff and helpful too. Definitely worth checking out! Also very affordable as well. My meal was about $11, got the double bacon cheese burger, spicy fries, and a large drink. If I'm craving a burger I'll come here.

  • *sigh* my only complaint is that they're not open on Sundays but understanding as they definitely deserve the day off!! Love Zacs, always a knock out with food. Their milkshakes are the best in the area.

The orange shake was the real star that thing was PHENOMENAL. I would highly suggest checking out Zac's Hamburger and I would love to come back.
